Be the Best Version of You: Mentally

| April 28, 2014 | 0 Comments

beYour thoughts have power—they create your world, directly affect your relationships and health, and they are directly linked to our beliefs—a component of the spiritual potential we discussed last week: Spirituality—Be the Best Version of You. Because your thoughts have so much power over your life, it is critical to realize when they are damaging your life and keeping you from the best version of you.

Like many, we all suffer from the pain of our own thoughts—me included. And like many, most of us have at one time or another struggled with a very common thought—jealousy. Whether it be in a relationship with a spouse, a family member, or a friend, the one who is jealous is plagued with thoughts and mental images of the spouse, family member, or friend choosing someone else as more desirable. Let’s consider a marriage: a wife supposes that her husband is in love with another woman and having an affair. Now, she may have no proof of this, but she has the thoughts and mental images to believe it. The husband becomes someone else in her mind, and even though her thoughts are false, they lead to feelings of anxiety, rage, and chronic tension that affect not only her, but her husband and anyone else in close proximity, including children.

Jealous thinking can cause massive damage to a marriage, a family, friendships, and even work relationships. Often when people recognize the damage that their thoughts are causing to their lives, they want to change. However, most people have great difficulty doing so because the root of jealous thinking lies in a subconscious belief, and like a stubborn weed, unless the entire root system is attended to, the belief with continue to live.

That’s where Focused Intention Technique comes in. It works directly with those subconscious beliefs that block our capacity for a peaceful and joyful life—that keep us from the best version or ourselves. Then by using our heart-consciousness we are able to find the past events that taught us false or dysfunctional beliefs—the root systems to our thoughts. As we become more aware of our thought patterns, we grow more adept at backtracking through the aspects of the wheel to identify what needs to be transformed.

Our thoughts are the pathway between how we see the world and how we feel. If we feel depressed, angry, or fearful we can begin to track the cause by attentively monitoring our thoughts. Our thoughts are who we are—they are our own creations residing within us and we affect the outcome of events through our thoughts.

As quantum physics has shown us, the thoughts of researchers can actually alter the outcome of an experiment, and not to mention the dozens of studies Michael Talbot has compiled which prove that humans affect the outcomes of events through concentrated thought. In fact, in Talbot’s book The Holographic Universe: The Revolutionary Theory of Reality, he shows that humankind in the past understood the concepts of “thought-as-energy” across many cultures.

Understanding this, you realizes just how capable your thoughts are of creating certain events, outcomes, and realities in your life. In order to create the best version of you, thoughts that cause damage, pain, and fear need to me overcome and transformed.

To help you, I want you to work through the following exercise—it will help you get clear on what thoughts are causing damage to you and how you can be your best self.

Which of your thoughts cause damage, pain, or fear? And what has caused those thoughts? (Take time and think about this).

Next, think about your relationships with your spouse, family, friends, and co-workers. What are those relationships like? Have they ever shifted or changed over the years? If so, what caused the changes?

Think about these things, reflect on them, and write down what damaging thoughts you have and where you believe they originated from. From there, we have to laser in on the limiting beliefs that caused those thoughts—to do this, I would need to teach you the Focused Intention Technique.
